HD format and its application in our daily life

We know that DVD brought a revolution in video and audio experience compare with VCD times, but with the technology developed with each passing day and people's increasing demand; we need screen wider and image quality higher, so the HD generated.

What's HD format?
HD video refers to any video system of higher resolution than standard-definition (SD) video, and most commonly involves display resolutions of 1,280*720 pixels (720p) or 1,920*1,080 pixels (1080i/1080p).

The most common application of HD format in our daily life.
1. HDTV
HDTV is short for High Definition television; it is a technology originates from Digital television. So far, HDTV has three display formats:
720p 1,280*720 Progressive
1080i 1,920*1,080 Interlaced
1080p 1,920*1,080 Progressive
The concert examples are iTunes/Apple TV, Zune Video, YouTube, Amazon Video on Demand, CBS.com/TV.com, and Hulu etc.

2. HD Blu-ray Disc
The optical disc standard Blu-ray Disc can provide enough digital storage to store hours of HD video content. DVDs look best on screens that are smaller than 36 inches (91 cm), so they are not always up to the challenge of today's high-definition (HD) sets. Storing and playing HD movies requires a disc that holds more information, like a Blu-ray Disc.
Additionally, we should note that current DVD quality is not high-definition, although the high-definition disc systems Blu-ray Disc and the defunct HD DVD are.

3. HD camcorder
We can HD camcorder AVCHD camcorder. They are developed jointly by Sony and Panasonic, the format was introduced in 2006 primarily for use in high definition consumer camcorders. Currently the HD specification support:
720-line progressive recording mode at frame rates of 24 and 60 frames/s for 60 Hz models and 50 frames/s for 50 Hz models;
1080i interlaced video which owns a full 1920x1080 resolution;
The last, 60 Hz variants of some Canon, Panasonic and Sony models are capable of recording native 1080p24 video.
